Our Specialized Treatments

Myobrace Therapy

Myobrace® treatment starts with the habit correction and generally works through a combination of three or more appliances to correct the causes of orthodontic problems and align the teeth as they grow into the mouth. Treatment can begin as soon as the poor myofunctional habits are recognised, however, older children have had more time for the incorrect habits and wrong growth patterns to establish, which can require extra effort for a successful treatment outcome. With good compliance, excellent results can be achieved.

There are typically four stages of treatment with Myobrace® involving:

Myofunctional Therapy

Myofunctional Therapy focuses on correcting improper tongue posture, mouth breathing, and dysfunctional muscle habits that contribute to orthodontic and facial growth issues. It involves a series of targeted exercises designed to retrain the tongue, lips, cheeks, and oral muscles to function correctly.

By addressing these underlying issues, the therapy promotes healthier breathing, improved jaw development, and better long-term dental stability.

There are typically four stages of Myofunctional Therapy:

Mandibular Advancement

Mandibular Advancement Therapy helps reposition the lower jaw forward to correct bite issues, improve airway function, and guide proper jaw growth in children.

It is mainly used for patients with a retruded mandible, airway obstruction during sleep, or skeletal Class II malocclusions.

There are typically four stages in Mandibular Advancement treatment:

Palatal Expansion

Palatal Expansion focuses on widening a narrow upper jaw to improve airway space, create room for teeth, and correct crossbites or crowding.

The treatment typically uses an expander appliance that gradually applies gentle pressure to the palatal bones to stimulate natural growth.

There are typically four stages in Palatal Expansion treatment:

What Our Patients Say

FAQs

Myobrace is a preventive orthodontic treatment that corrects poor oral habits such as mouth breathing, tongue thrusting, and incorrect swallowing patterns. It uses soft, removable appliances to guide natural jaw development, improve breathing, and align teeth as they grow.

Myobrace can be started as early as age 3 when poor myofunctional habits are first noticed. Early intervention at Kigo Dental helps guide jaw growth, prevent crowding, and reduce the need for braces later.

The duration varies depending on the child’s age, growth pattern, and habit severity. On average, treatment can take 12–24 months and involves four phases: habit correction, arch development, dental alignment, and retention. Consistency in wearing the appliance greatly improves results.

For best results, the Myobrace should be worn 1–2 hours daily plus overnight during sleep. At Kigo Dental, we provide guided exercises (Myofunctional Activities) to support correct breathing, tongue posture, and muscle function.
